Candle Cafe is a vegan restaurant located at 1307 Third Avenue (between East 74th and East 75th Streets) on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, in New York City. The restaurant has an eclectic all-vegan menu.〔 It's decor is simple, casual, and no-frills, with hardwood floors and with dark tiles at the juice bar, which dominates its entrance. It was opened in 1994 as a juice bar and health food cafe, and is owned by Joy Pierson and Bart Potenza.〔 Joy and Bart had won the start of the seed money for the restaurant on Friday the 13th in August 1993, when they played a combination of their birthdays in the New York State Take Five lottery and won $53,000.
